Section 8

Section 8 is a narrow strip, at most 15 graves wide, which tapers at the top to a width of just 6 grave sites. It is 54 rows long and the oldest graves are from the early 20th century. Most of the graves here are from 1910s and 1920s. It also contains the war graves of soldiers who died in World War I. The first two rows of the section are separated by a footpath. The section was set up on a plot that was added by a purchase from the Bratislava Chapter in 1869. The plot includes sections 8-13 and 18. To this day, there is a landmark from 1845 which marks the original boundary of the cemetery. Landmarks were used when the land was not fenced. The sandstone landmark has ‘J.G.’ and the year 1845 inscribed on one side and the Hebrew year (5)605 on the other side.
