Section 1

Section 1 was set up in the new part of the cemetery, formed after its expansion in 1926. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the ceremonial hall at the entrance to the cemetery site. The section has 11 rows and the oldest graves date back to the 1930s. It was used mainly in the post-World War II period. Some graves date from recent years. Men and women are buried in this section without any separation.

Notable personalities:

Alfréd Wetzler (1918-1988), escaped from the Auschwitz concentration camp and was a co-author of the Vrba-Wetzler report, [1/2/6]
